ECHOLOT at the Oulu Löyly Open culture think & do fest

From 8 to 10 June, AvoinGLAM organised the ‘Oulu Löyly‘ event as part of the ‘Oulu 2026 – European Capital of Culture’ programme. Designed as an open culture think-and-do workshop, it brought together open culture advocates, decision-makers, technology experts and creative thinkers for a three-day programme including an Open Culture Marketplace and a two-day think-and-do event.

Jouni Tuominen, from the University of Helsinki, represented ECHOLOT at the Open Culture Marketplace, a one-day event within the workshop open to everyone. He presented the project with a roll-up banner and a fair stand, and shared knowledge and perspectives on endangered cultural heritage.

The final two days of the conference were dedicated to a two-day ‘Think & Do’ workshop focusing on deeper collaboration and hands-on work. Under the theme ‘Cultural Heritage at Risk’, participants collaboratively developed practical digital survival strategies for vulnerable community archives, endangered languages and cultural heritage in the digital age.

It has been a pleasure to participate in the workshop, sharing ideas and knowledge about cultural heritage.
