ECHOLOT participates at the ‘Engineering Truth’ online event

On 15 May, the ECHOES of Memory project hosted an online synergy event titled ‘Engineering Truth: AI Governance, Data Safety and the Architecture of Trust’. Designed as both a networking opportunity and a first step towards identifying future collaboration opportunities, the event provided a space for cross-project dialogue among European initiatives working at the intersection of technology, human rights, historical memory, digital humanities, cultural heritage, and ethical AI.

The ECHOLOT team presented some of the challenges we are currently facing and the strategies we are developing when designing the AI-supported workflows in the ECHOLOT enrichment system. The  team emphasised the training and capacity-building events that form part of our work programme, which will be shared with the new communities that we connected with at the event. Another point of interest was the provenance data survey that ECHOLOT is preparing, which will also be relevant to communities involved in remembrance projects dealing with particularly sensitive data. Provenance and rights pose distinct challenges in such cases.

We look forward to continuing our contact with the project members and exploring how best to support new use cases and onboarding into the ECHOES and the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage.
